The foundation of our treatments is Functional mobilization (FM), a manually based approach designed to restore optimal function developed by Gregory Johnson, PT, FFCFMT, that differs from other contemporary approaches in that each of the 3 major components of a dysfunction: structural, neurological and functional, are treated together, utilizing an eclectic blend of neuromuscular facilitory techniques. FM reduces the chance of recidivism (a problem commonly found with many approaches) by reeducating the neuromuscular system through the use of neurofacilitory techniques that stimulate specialized nerve cells called sensory receptors, the end result being the neuromuscular system retains newly learned skills.
